James Barrow

Key Account Manager

James is a creative genius when it comes to interpreting what our clients want and converting their dreams into a visual reality. He works with the production team to produce new outputs from limited and/or diverse inputs to meet a commercial requirement that considers shape and space, sound and silence, colour, light, movement animation and story to generate engaging multimedia products.

What is your role?

I’m responsible for the overall design capability and quality of our project deliverables.

What is the most interesting project you’ve worked on at Urban Circus?

Rather than choosing a single project to talk about I love the overlapping challenges and nuances of the major infrastructure programs and the variety of work that we do in supporting project development and delivering quality outputs to support their success. A few projects include Melbourne Metro Rail Tunnel, Level Crossing Removals Project, Western Distributor Project, State Library Re-development and the North-East Link.

What are you most proud of during your time at Urban Circus?

The relationships that I’ve built with our internal team and clients, and helping meet their major milestones and project deliveries. It‘s quite rewarding working with a range of industry professionals including project directors, engineers, urban designers and architects, and helping collate and translate their ideas and concepts into easily understood visual content.

Why do you work at Urban Circus?

I’m provided with the opportunity to work in an active environment, with great people working together on some of the most complex built environment projects and city shaping activities in the country. I get to blend my passion and professionalism with leading technology to help make the grey areas clear.

Patrick Gavin

Head of Production

Patrick leads our Production Team which includes 3D Modellers and animators who can work with precision data sets to manage and create industry-leading digital environments for publication to real time platforms or rendering. We also have video and visual artists who design modern and engaging visual stories across motion graphics, supers and editing. The production team includes technical experts who continuously develop and improve our technology

What is your role?

I manage a highly responsive team working on multiple infrastructure projects across Australia. I also ensure I spend time with our client solutions team to ensure we are meeting our deadlines and quality specifications – we want to ensure our clients are happy with the overall delivery.

What is the most interesting project you’ve worked on at Urban Circus?

The State Library project. It’s one of the most majestic buildings in the city and we delivered multiple high-resolution images and a video output to support the State Library with a philanthropic project refurbishment for 2020.  Daniel Andrews called it the best before and after video he’s ever seen – it doesn’t get better than that.

What are you most proud of during your time at Urban Circus?

I’m proud of the scope of the vision of the company, that we are changing the world through our technology, working to make this city better and, in the longer term, cities around the world. Internally I’m working hard to continually upskill and develop the team. I’m pretty happy with the dynamics of the team, and I’m working on updating our internal systems and processes to make them even smoother to deliver for our clients.

Why do you work at Urban Circus?

I get to work with great people working to make the cities of the future better. We use cutting edge technology at the highest level and are looking to take this to the international stage. It’s a happy and fun environment with a really good crew. Great place to be.
